Invitation to the seminar “Global mining industry: social responsibilities and requirements”

The Argumenta project “Responsible Mining” invites You to participate to an upcoming seminar: “Global mining industry: social responsibilities and requirements”  at Thursday 13rd February 2014  at the University of Oulu (Pentti Kaiteran katu 1, Linnanmaa) at 13:00-18:00.

The aim of the seminar is to discuss how global mining companies operate, what kind of a requirements local communities set to mining companies, and how companies response to these local responsibility requirements.  

The seminar is open for everyone interested in the subject and is free of charge. The language of the seminar is English.

Seminar is organized by the University of Eastern Finland (environmental policy / the LYY Institute) in co-operation with the University of Oulu (cultural anthropology) and Oulu Mining School. (see also

Argumenta-project is funded by the Finnish Cultural Foundation. Target of Argumenta projects is to create multidisciplinary discussion about topical themes for research. The goal of “Responsible Mining” project is to bring knowledge of mining as rapidly changing industry up to date, and to create new knowledge and understanding, which can lead to realization of new solutions for responsible activities.
