Six urban challenges are looking for solutions!

- 60% of the city areas of the world in 2050 is yet to be developed.
- Population increase and urbanisation is expected to result in 2.5 billion new citizens in the cities worldwide in 2050.
- 90% of the population increase will be in Africa and Asia.

In this evolvement lies major challenges - but also great opportunities for Nordic companies and entrepreneurs!

29 September 2015, the Nordic Built Cities Challenge will be launched.

This is an open, multidisciplinary, needs-driven Nordic initiative with the ambition to develop and showcase Nordic innovative solutions for liveable, smart and sustainable cities. It is the Nordic umbrella for six sub-competitions with different urban challenges to be solved.

4 finalists per sub-competition will be granted up to 300.000 NOK to develop their solutions further, and furthermore, they will get the opportunity to become the local winner and compete for a Nordic prize sum of 1.200.000 NOK.

The urban challenges are very diverse in their format and scope, but what they have in common is that they are all gathered under the Nordic Built Cities Challenge umbrella – calling for innovative and multidisciplinary Nordic solutions.

To make this happen, Nordic Innovation encourage people to team up across country borders and fields of expertise. We will help facilitating the process by inviting all frontrunners within technology, construction, ICT, urban planning, architecture, transportation, housing, smart city, energy, social entrepreneurship and beyond to a Nordic Matchmaking Event.

WHEN: 5 November 2015, 10.00-17.00
WHERE: Radisson Blu Arlandia, Stockholm, Sweden

Are you interested in getting more information about the competition? Do you want to meet likeminded people and expand your network? Are you looking for inspiration? Do you want to share your innovative ideas with others? Perhaps us to set up a meeting with certain persons?

The event is free of charge, and as we want both larger and smaller actors within the field of urban development to participate, we are even fully or partially reimbursing the travel expenses for up to 80 Nordic students, startups and social entrepreneurs (read more in the registration scheme).
