| MATERA
MATERA was an ERA-NET project focusing on creating a durable cooperation platform for national and regional policy makers and managers with strategic activities in materials science and engineering. It promoted European cooperation between national and regional programmes on materials. MATERA brought together an active network of 19 organisations from 16 countries. The project was funded by the European Commission in the sixth framework programme during 1.2.2005–31.5.2011. Besides building a valuable network the main result of MATERA is the annual joint calls which have been launched since 2006 for industry, universities and research centres. Altogether 36 MATERA projects have been started, the total public funding being 27 Million euros. In 2009, an ERA-NET Plus Call on materials (MATERA+) was organised with an additional EC FP7 financial support for the projects. As an outcome of the call, 20 trans-national projects were started with 15 Million Euros funding. Based on the final assessment by Technopolis, MATERA was a flexible instrument to activate research and industry cooperation. MATERA summary (pdf)
