Tekes funds R&D and innovation activities by companies and research organisations registered in Finland. In 2010 Tekes made funding decisions regarding 1,846 projects, which resulted in total investment of €633 million, of which:

• €382 million was invested in enterprise projects;
• €251 million was invested in projects carried out by
  universities, research institutes and polytechnics.

Of the total of enterprise R&D project funding:

• 61% was targeted at SMEs;
• 70% was targeted at enterprises with less than 500
  employees.
