Tekes funds R&D and innovation activities by companies and research organisations registered in Finland. In 2012 Tekes made funding decisions regarding 1,640 projects, which resulted in total investment of 570 million euros, of which:

• 353 million euros was invested in enterprise projects;
• 217 million euros was invested in projects carried out by
  universities, research institutes and polytechnics.

Of the total of enterprise R&D project funding:

• 68% was targeted at SMEs;
• 76% was targeted at enterprises with less than 500 employees.
